Aatu, oikealta nimeltään Enzahin My Sweet Shadow täyttää 19. helmikuuta 5 vuotta. Maine Coon -rotuisia kissoja kutsutaan "pöllönkatseisiksi lempeiksi jättiläisiksi".
Aatu, Enzahin My Sweet Shadow by his real name meets on 19 February to 5 years. Maine Coon raced cats are called "owl-eyed gentle giants".

Eläinperheessämme on neljä kissaa. Kaksi Ragdollia, Huli ja Vili, ovat 7-vuotiaat veljekset. Aatu tuli taloon kolme vuotta heidän jälkeensä. Maine Coon –neiti Kirppu muutti meille 1,5 vuotiaana ja täyttää tänä vuonna neljä vuotta.
Our animal family consists of four cats. Two Ragdolls, Huli and Vili, are brothers aged 7. Aatu came to the house three years after them. Maine Coon miss Kirppu moved to us at 1.5 years of age and meets this year to four years.

Meillä oli ollut Ragdoll- veljekset kolme vuotta ja rotukissoista kiinnostuneina olimme alkaneet miettiä jonkin toisen rotuisen pennun ottamista. Jyväskylän lähellä oli Enzahin kissalassa Maine Coonin pennut, ja menimme niitä katsomaan. Coonit tekivät vaikutuksen välittömästi: pennut olivat suloisia, ja aikuiset kissat upeita! Isokokoinen, lempeä, pöllönkatseinen rotu vaikutti hurmaavalta.
We had had the Ragdoll- brothers for three years and interested of breed cats as we were, we were beginning to think about taking a different breed kitten. There were Maine Coon kittens in the Enzahin cattery close to Jyväskylä, and we went to take a look at them. We were impressed by the Coons immediately: the kittens were cute and adult cats stunning! A large, gentle, owl-eyed breed seemed very sweet.
Halusimme urospennun ja varasimme musta-savuvärisen pojan, joka oli hieman ujo, mutta tomeran oloinen. Kävimme vielä toisen kerran pentuja katsomassa ja toukokuussa 2013 kasvattaja toi Aatun luoksemme uuteen kotiin.
We wanted a male puppy, and we booked the black-smoke-colored boy who was a little shy, but seemed snell. We went to have a look at the kittens for a second time, and in May 2013 the breeder brought Aatu to us into a new home.
Isojen veljesten ihmetellessä uutta tulokasta oli monenlaista sähinää ilmassa, ja Aatu hakeutui turvapaikkaan sohvan taakse ja keittiön pöydän alle. Kun ensimmäinen yhteinen ilta koitti, jäin Aatun kanssa valvomaan ja tutustumaan. Aatu on aina siitä lähtien ollut vähän sellainen ”mamman poika”.
Big brothers were wondering about the newcomer and there was a variety of hiss in the air and Aatu searched for refuge behind the sofa and below the kitchen table. When the first common evening approached, I stayed with Aatu to monitor and make acquaintance. Aatu has ever since been sort of a "mama's boy".

Aatu on opettanut kuinka kissa voi kiintyä ”omiin” ihmisiinsä ja olla lempeä jättiläinen, mutta tarvittaessa myös sitkeä taistelija. Kissaa ei voi pakottaa, ei myöskään lahjoa; kissan luottamus ja rakkaus tulee ansaita. Kissa osaa olla hyvinkin tunneälyinen, viisas, oppivainen ja seurallinen.
Aatu has taught me how a cat can become very attached to his "own" people and be gentle giant, but, if necessary, die-hard fighter. A cat can not be forced, nor corrupted; the cat's trust and love has to be earned. The cat is able to have lots of emotional intelligence, and he can be wise, docile and sociable.

Kissalla tulee olla turvallinen koti, riittävästi tilaa touhuta sekä omaa rauhaa. Ruuan tulee olla laadukasta ja raikasta vettä tarjolla jatkuvasti. Kissan tulee saada huomiota ja hellyyttä osakseen ja kissan terveydestä tulee pitää huolta. Kun kissoille juttelee, ne tuntuvat oppivan juttelemaan myös. Onnellinen kissa tuo iloa ja onnea myös omistajilleen.

Aatu oli jo pienenä kissalassa leikkinyt mehupilleillä; sellaisilla muovisilla, joissa on haitarimainen kaulaosa. Niistä on vuosien saatossa tullut hänelle ihan oma juttunsa. Päivisin kaikkien niiden muutaman pillin, jotka leluina ovat, pitää olla ruoka- ja vesikuppien luona. Jos ne ovat jossain muualla, Aatu kantaa ne kuppien luo.
Already when Aatu was a small kitten he used to toy in the cattery with small juice straws; such plastic things with accordion-like neck portion. They have over the years become his own special thing. During the day, all of those few straws that are his toys must be near the food and water bowls. If they are somewhere else, Aatu carries them to the bowls.

In the evening, Aatu may bring a straw near the sofa in the living room, sometimes as far as into my arms when we are watching tv. When I throw it, he will pick it up and bring back. Until he no longer feels like it and takes it back.
Öisin pillejä ilmestyy makuuhuoneeseemme: milloin lattialle, milloin sänkyyn, joskus yöpöydällekin. Ja päivän aikana Aatu kantaa ne aina takaisin alakertaan. Siivouspäivinä nostan pillit pois lattialta, ja aina kun lopetan siivoamisen, hän kantaa ne takaisin paikoilleen yksi kerrallaan.
At night, straws will appear in our bedroom: sometimes at the floor, sometimes in the bed, sometimes even on the bedside tables. And during the day Aatu carries them all the way back downstairs. During the cleaning days I will raise the straws off the floor and every time I finish cleaning up, he carries them back one at a time.
