Hammaslääkärilasku hämmästyttää / Dentist's astonishing invoice

Ystäväni halusi mennä suuhygienistille puhdistuttamaan hampaat. Helppoa?

 My friend wanted to go to the dental hygienist to clean the teeth. Easy?

Ei ole, koska yksityisellä puolella suuhygienistin palvelut ovat paljon kalliimpia ilman hammaslääkärin lähetettä. Julkisessa terveydenhuollossa näin ei ole. Terveisiä vaan sinne soten valmistelijoille.

It is not because the private side of the dental hygiene services are much more expensive without a dentist's referral. This is not the case in public healthcare. And now I take this opportunity to send my greetings to the Finnish officials planning the health care reform. 

Siispä ensin hammaslääkärille. Tarkastus meni hyvin, mutta lasku aiheutti hilpeyttä. Tai olisi aiheuttanut, jos ei olisi ollut rahasta kysymys. Yhdessä ihailimme, miten paljon luovuutta nykyään vaaditaan terveydenhuollon henkilöstöltä. Heidän pitää keksiä laskuun jos jonkinmoista riviä, jolla laskun loppusummaa voi nostaa. Kela-korvauksen verran me suomalaiset saamme "alennusta" laskusta. Mutta laskun lisäriveillä se peritään takaisin. Joten itse asiassa Kela eli yhteiskunta maksaa ne lisärivit.

So first to the dentist. The check went well, but the bill caused some hilarity. Or it would have caused if there was no money in question. Together, we adored how much creativity is now required of health care staff. They have to come up with several lines to the invoice to raise the total amount. We Finns get "reduction" from the invoice amounting the sum that the social insurance institution of Finland has us admitted. But with the additional rows of the invoice we pay it back. So, at the end the social insurance institution i.e. society pays those rows.

Eikö riittäisi, jos yksinkertaisesti vain ilmoitettaisiin, mitä tämä lysti maksaa? Ei. Pitää olla erittely, jotta yksinkertaisempikin maksaja ymmärtää aiheuttaneensa paljon kuluja.

Would not it suffice if you simply told how much? No. There needs to be a differentiation so that even the simpler payer understands that he has caused a lot of expenses.

Kannan nyt korteni kekoon ja osallistun Suomen sote-palvelusetelitalkoisiin tarjoamalla muutaman uuden idean tulevaisuuden laskuerittelyihin. Seuraavissa vaihtoehdoissa aina yksi on jo olemassa oleva, muut pelkkiä ehdotuksia. Ilman näitä et pääse sisään lääkäriin. Tai ainakaan et pääse enää ulos.

Now I'm doing my bit and taking part in the health care reform in Finland by offering a few new ideas for future invoices. In the following alternatives, there is always one already existing in each part, the others mere suggestions. Without these you will not get in to the doctor. Or at least you can not get out.
